Robert “Bob” H. Fortkamp, age 69, of Coldwater, Ohio, formerly of Fort Recovery, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
He was born on May 2, 1956, to the late Vince and Jean (Reier) Fortkamp.
Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie (Dues) Fortkamp, whom he married on July 26, 1980; his children: Jason (Carrie) Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Stacy (Greg) Brown of Fort Recovery, Sarah (Mike) Will of Fort Recovery, Beth (Nathan) Hartings of Maria Stein, and Lindsey (Matthew) Reinhard of Fort Recovery; his grandchildren: Jake, Cali, Carly, Cody and Jordyn Fortkamp, Natalie, Tony and Deanna Brown, Katelyn, Olivia, Abby and Lorena Will, Abel, Gus, Ben and Oliver Hartings, and Quinten, Vincent, Xander and Georgia Reinhard; his siblings: twin brother, Roger (Marilyn) Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Joann (Larry) Wagner of Versailles, Ruth (Dan) Pottkotter of Coldwater, Marvin (Bonnie) Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Pat (Gary) Post of Fort Recovery, Kathy Tyler of Cincinnati, and Ginny (Gene) Schoenlein of Fort Recovery; his in-laws: Joyce (Jim) Ontrop of Coldwater, Jean (Don) Wynk of Chickasaw, Bob (Jean) Dues of St. Peter, Ron (Lil) Dues of St. Anthony, Dick (Laurie) Dues of St. Peter, Bill (Lisa) Dues of St. Anthony, Ed (Carol) Dues of St. Joe, and Gerry Dues and special friend, Nettie Brown of Philothea; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sons: Josh Fortkamp and Eric Fortkamp; and his father and mother-in-law: August and Mildred Dues.
A graduate of Fort Recovery High School, class of 1974, Bob devoted much of his professional life to the construction industry. As co-owner of Pottkotter-Fortkamp Construction, he was a respected tradesman, embodying the values of dedication and hard work, something that he passed down to his children. Bob also continued to contribute to the community through his work at Midwest Poultry, where he formed lasting friendships and connections.
Bob was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sharpsburg, Fort Recovery Knights of Columbus and the Fort Recovery Sons of the VFW.
Above all, Bob was a cherished family man. He loved deeply and found joy in every moment spent with his family, particularly in the laughter and warmth that his grandchildren brought into his life. Many memories were made while taking golf cart rides with his grandchildren and at the family pond, where Bob nurtured bonds that will carry on through generations. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and friendly card games, all of which highlighted his love for life and the people around him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 20, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Guests may visit with Bob’s family on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Friday from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. A Knights of Columbus prayer service will be held at 6:45 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Fort Recovery Community Foundation, in care of the Josh and Eric Fortkamp Scholarship Fund.
