Richard Meiring

Richard J. Meiring, 92, Fort Recovery, OH, died on June 20, 2011, which was his 65th wedding annivearsary, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, OH.
He was born March 13, 1919, in Sharpsburg, Ohio, to the late Wesley Meiring and the late Philomena Guggenbiller. On June 20, 1946, he married Mary Helen (McConaha) Meiring, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons - Richard (Barbara) Meiring of Starkville, Mississippi, and Robert (Karen) Meiring of Fort Recovery, Ohio; a sister - Delores (Don) Kahlig of Sharpsburg, Ohio; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law - Jean Meiring of Sharpsburg, Ohio, and Sue McConaha of Decatur, IN; and a brother-in-law - Jerry McConaha of Versailles, Ohio.
Deceased are two brothers, Herb and Tom Meiring, and sister, Merilda Dues.
He was the former Deputy Sheriff of Mercer County, Ohio and retired at Sales Manager for Hull Brothers, Fort Recovery, Ohio
He served in the 3rd Army under the command of General George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge and received 5 battle stars and the Bronze Star. He previously served as President of the former Fort Recovery Banking Company Board of Directors, Fort Recovery and Vice President of the Second National Bank Board of Directors, Greenville, Ohio. He also served on the Fort Recovery Town Council and was a member of the Fort Recovery American Legion Post #345, and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, all of Fort Recovery.
Services are 10:30 am, Thursday at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, OH, Fr. Thomas Dorn, officiating and Fr. Paul Wohlwend will concelebrate. Burial is at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery, OH. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Fort Recovery American Legion.
Calling is 3:00 pm-8:00 pm Wednesday and 9:00 am-10:00 am Thursday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, OH.
