Opal M. McCord, 89, Fort Recovery, OH, died at 5:38 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community, Mulburry, IN.
She was born October 31, 1920, in Shelburn, IN, to the late John F. Slover and the late Nancy Lay. On October 15, 1942 she married the late Clarence F. McCord, who died May 30, 2000.
Surviving are son, David (Ruth) McCord of Lewisburg, PA, daughter, Donna McCord of Dayton, IN, brother, Edward Slover of Linton, IN, sister, Thelma Hauger of Springfield, IL, brother, John (Joanie) Slover of Monticello, IN, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild.
Deceased is a sister, Maude Thompson.
She was a 1938 graduate of Shelburn High School, Shelburn, IN and obtained a nursing degree from American Hospital School of Nursing, Chicago, IL.
She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 111, Fort Recovery, Ohio and Ft. Recovery United Methodist Church, Ft. Recovery, Ohio. Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Ft. Recovery United Methodist Church, Pastor David Gordon, officiating. Burial is at Green Park Cemetery, Portland, IN.
Visitation is 6:30-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery and Thursday, 10 a.m. till services at the church.
