Maurice J. Grieshop, 82, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died July 24, 2013 at Kettering Medical Center, Kettering, OH.
He was born April 22, 1931, in St. Peter, OH, to the late Henry Grieshop and the late Rose Schuh. On June 26, 1954, he married Jeanette (Schindler) Grieshop, who survives.
Also surviving are seven daughters - Catherine (Carl) Koesters of Fort Recovery, OH, Theresa (Phillip) Hemmelgarn of Anna, OH, Sandra (Thomas) Spettel of Westerville, OH, Judith (James) Wood of Fort Recovery, OH, Alice (Rob) Gaerke of Fort Recovery, OH, Lisa (Jerry) Krieg of Lima, OH, and Jaymi (Marty) Stammen of Fort Recovery, OH. three sons - Jeffrey (Dana) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, OH, Dale (Nikki) Grieshop of Lima, OH, Scott (Lisa) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, OH; 4 brothers - Jerome (Norma) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, OH, Lou (Charlene) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, OH, Herb (Janice) Grieshop of Celina, OH, John Grieshop of Wapakoneta, OH; sister - Rosemary (Herb) Kaiser of Coldwater, OH; 44 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister-in-law - Doris Grieshop of Celina, OH; and brother-in-law - Fred Wilker of New Bremen, OH.
Deceased are three grandchildren, a brother, Dennis Grieshop, four sisters, Martha Dues, Ruth Wilker, Laura Langenkamp, and infant sister Catherine Grieshop, sister and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Grieshop, Cletus Dues, and Ralph Langenkamp
He was a 1949 graduate of Fort Recovery High School, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
He co-founded J & M Manufacturing, Fort Recovery with his brother Jerry Grieshop and served in the US Army. He was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, Ohio and sang in the church choir for many years. He was also a member and former Post Commander of the American Legion, Fort Recovery and was a charter member and one of the founders of the Fort Recovery Ambassadors. He served on the Fort Recovery School Board and was a member of Full Gospel Businessmans Fellowship International. He will be known for his love of Jesus our savior, his generosity, inventive nature and his harmonica.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, the Fr. Thomas Dorn and Fr. Michael Daudurand officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Sunday and 9:00 am-10:00 am Monday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Graveside military honors will be conducted by the American Legion, Fort Recovery.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations may be made to the Fort Recovery Community Foundation. The funds will be used for area families in need. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
