Mary E. Gaerke , 59, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died February 16, 2014 at her home.
She was born July 22, 1954, in Coldwater, OH, to the late Arnold and Luella (Bruns)Schwieterman. On August 17, 1974, she married Ronald "Foots" Wendel, who died June 4, 1995. On December 1, 2001, she married Bill Gaerke, who survives.
Also surviving are 2 daughters, Kelly (Bob) Brunswick of Fort Recovery, OH and Sara (Brandon) Bettinger of Maysville, KY; 2 sons, Brad (Stephanie) Wendel of Coldwater, OH and Andy Wendel of Maysville, KY; 3 brothers, John (Jinny) Schwieterman of St. Henry, OH, Tom (Marge) Schwieterman of Burkettsville, OH, and Ron (Ellen) Schwieterman, Fort Recovery, OH; 3 sisters, Nancy (Ronnie) Jones of Fort Recovery, OH, Sue (Jerry) Borchers, Russia, OH, and Karen (Jack) Hatert of New Weston, OH; her sister-in-law, Deb Schwieterman, Burkettsville, OH; 4 grandchildren, Nicole, Caleb, Emily and Megan; her mother-in-law, Rita Wendel of Coldwater, OH; her father and mother-in-law, Charlie & Betty Gaerke of Fort Recovery, OH; in-laws, Jane & Dan Pease of Celina, OH, Karen & Randy Schwieterman of Coldwater, OH, Jack & Judy Gaerke of Fort Recovery, OH, Dale & Carolyn Gaerke of Perrysburg, OH, Randy & Barb Gaerke of Coldwater, OH, Theresa & Bill Delzeith of St. Henry, OH, Rob & Alice Gaerke of Fort Recovery, OH, Tim & Julie Gaerke of Fort Recovery, OH, Donna & Mark Grube of St. Marys, OH, Diane & Tim Homan of Coldwater, OH, Marie & Dave Link of Fort Recovery, OH, and Jennifer & Brian Ballard of Springboro, OH.
Other deceased family members are father-in-law, Melvin Wendel; mother-in-law, Wilma Gaerke; two sisters, Judy Ditmer and Darlene Schwieterman; a brother, Roy Schwieterman; and in-laws, Linda Wendel, Lowell Ditmer, and Jim Schwartz.
She was a 1972 graduate of St. Henry High School.
She was employed at the former Matt Schwieterman, Inc., Coldwater, Ohio and was currently employed at the St. Henry Bake Shoppe, St. Henry, OH.
She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, Ohio. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and spoiling her grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, with Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, St. Anthony, Ohio.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Wednesday and 9:00 am-10:00 am Thursday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
