Leslie Ann Stewart, a woman whose spirit could never be contained, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 69.
She was born on October 11, 1955, in Bellaire, Ohio, to the late Harry “Bud” and Mary Jo Stewart.
In addition to her parents, Leslie was preceded in death by her life partner of 22 years, Randy "Otis" Wendel, who passed away on January 16, 2024; and Randy’s parents, John and Mary Ann (Fiely) Wendel.
Leslie is survived by her stepdaughters, Britany (Cory) Adams of Coldwater, and Taylor (Travis) Flaute of St. Henry; her grandchildren, Devyn, Dawson, Darcy, Riley, and Hallie; her brother, Court (Sue) Stewart of Steubenville, Ohio; her nephews, Clay (Amanda) Stewart of Lexington, Kentucky, and Pat (Whitney) Stewart of Lincoln, Nebraska; her great nephews, Theo and Calvin; and her in-laws, Pam (David) Hicks, Gary (Margie) Wendel, and Joyce (Dan) Wilker, all of Fort Recovery, and Wanda Fields of St. Henry.
Leslie was a 1974 graduate of Shadyside High School and continued her education at Muskingum Area Technical College and The Ohio State University. She worked for the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the Ohio Poultry Association for many years.
Known for her boundless love of shoes—no pair too bold or too bright—she walked through life with an unmistakable flair. Whether she was catching the latest headlines on Fox News, savoring her favorite chocolate and peanut butter treats, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon, she did it all on her own terms.
Her family was small, but in her heart, each loved one held an immeasurable place. She never hesitated to share her opinions, her laughter, or her endless generosity. Her independent spirit and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A private celebration of life will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Guests may visit prior to the service from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 18, 2025, at Holly Memorial Gardens, 73360 Pleasant Grove, Colerain, OH 43916.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to slip on your brightest shoes, enjoy a little chocolate and peanut butter, and think of her.
In honor of Leslie’s mother, the family request that memorial contributions be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
