Joseph A. Keller

Joseph A. "Joe" Keller, 76, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died November 13, 2016 at his residence in Fort Recovery.
He was born April 4, 1940, in Dayton, OH, to the late Alvin and Mary (Sanderell) Keller. On July 2, 1966, he married Mary (Homan) Keller, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Theresa (Mike) Heinrichs of Fort Recovery, Ivan (Amy) Keller of New Weston, OH, Eric (Sherrie) Keller of Fort Recovery, Mike (Janel) Keller of Berne, IN, Ann (Allan) Nash of Columbus, OH, Jean (Nate) Bomholt of Versailles, OH and Karen (Dave) Heitkamp of Fort Recovery; siblings, Charlie (Janie) Keller of Fort Recovery, Ron (Carol) Keller of Celina, OH, Larry (Diana) Keller of Fort Recovery and Carolyn (Ken) Gaerke of Celina; 21 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and in-laws, Delores Homan of Coldwater, OH, Janet (Jim) McEldowney of Versailles, Millie (Jim) Boehmer of Kettering, OH, Eileen (Art) Dapore of Russia, OH, Herb (Charlene) Homan of Fort Recovery, Carolyn (Dave) Kreischer of Sidney, OH and Doris (Phil) Sheffer of Fort Recovery.
Preceding him in death are his infant sister, Ann Marie Keller and in-laws, Gerald Homan and Wally Thien.
He was a 1958 graduate of Fort Recovery High School, served in the United States Army, worked as a township trustee for Gibson Township and retired from farming.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #345, Fort Recovery and participated in their honor guard. He was also a life time member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #6515, Knights of Columbus #3324, both of Fort Recovery and the National Rifle Association. Joe was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3025, Coldwater, the Ohio Progressive Sportsman Club and the Fort Recovery Gun Club, both of Fort Recovery and the Ohio Good Sam Camping Club. He was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Ohio, in which he participated in their Holy Name Society. Joe enjoyed fishing and hunting deer and wild turkeys. He loved to relax while camping and became fond of gardening after he retired. He enjoyed taking an occasional trip to Anderson, IN, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Ohio, Fr. Matthew Feist and Fr. Charles Mullen concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Tuesday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Wednesday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio. A Knights of Columbus prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday evening. In honor of his service, the American Legion will conduct military graveside honors.
