John H. Alig, 79, 7442 E. 200 N., Portland, died at 3:20 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2010, at St. Vincent Randolph Hospital, Winchester, IN.
He was born December 27, 1930, in Portland, IN, to the late John W. Alig and the late Hilda Droesch. On April 24, 1954 he married Marceil M. Muhlenkamp, who survives.

Deceased are a Daughter and her husband Eileen and Jeff Bickel, infant sister Viola, and 2 Brothers Joe and Ralph.
He retired from the former Avco New Idea, Coldwater, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was Past Commander and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6515, member of the American Legion Post 345, and the Fort Recovery Gun Club, all of Fort Recovery. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
