Jean F. Fortkamp, 86, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater, Ohio.

She was born on May 22, 1935, in Portland, Indiana, to the late Lawrence and Marie (Siefring) Reier.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Vince Fortkamp, whom she married on August 13, 1955; her grandchildren, Josh and Eric Fortkamp, and Kelly Post; her siblings, Loudonna (Richard) Timmerman, Melvin (Phyllis) Reier, and Lavern Reier; her brother-in-law, Virgil "Shorty" Braun; and her in-laws, Cyril (Mary Ann) Fortkamp, Rita (Jim) Zehringer, Henry (Arlene) Fortkamp, Ralph Fortkamp, Wilfred "Bud" May, Richard Poling, and Gene Steinke.

Jean worked at Coldwater Medical as a housekeeper for many years until she retired. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Jean had embroidered and quilted a bedspread for each of her grandchildren, and crocheted baby blankets for all of her great grandchildren. She also made many rosaries for several different missions throughout the years. Jean was a devout Catholic and active member at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. She was a lay distributor, a member of the Altar Sodality, and served as the funeral luncheon chair for many years.

Jean is survived by her children, Roger (Marilyn) Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Robert (Bonnie) Fortkamp of Coldwater, Joann (Larry) Wagner of Versailles, Ohio, Ruth (Dan) Pottkotter of Coldwater, Marvin (Bonnie) Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Patricia (Gary) Post of Fort Recovery, Kathy Tyler of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Virginia (Gene) Schoenlein of Fort Recovery; her 33 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren; her siblings, Merdella (Joe) Nietfeld of St. Henry, Ohio, and Viola Braun of Coldwater; and her in-laws, Rosie May of Coldwater, Bernice Poling of Coldwater, Lavern (Elaine) Fortkamp of Dayton, Ohio, and Alice Steinke of Florida.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Fort Recovery, with Father Ned Brown officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Guests may visit with Jean's family on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and again on Saturday from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.
