James "Jim" E. Boyd, age 87, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at his home.
He was born on July 17, 1938, in Portland, Indiana to the late Harold and Maxine (Shumaker) Boyd.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Boyd, Bob Portz, Rick Portz.
Jim is survived by his children, Roxanne (Kevin) McCloskey of Dayton, Mike (Marsha) Boyd of Union City, Indiana, and Sheila (Gregg) Pierce of South Carolina; his 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; his siblings, Jeff (Diane) Boyd of South Bend, Indiana, Patty Hunter of Florida, Stan Boyd of South Bend, Indiana, and Steve Boyd of South Bend, Indiana, Joe (Debbie) Portz of Celina; his sister-in-law, Kathy Portz of Fort Recovery.
Jim was a graduate of Fort Recovery High School. After graduation, Jim enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country honorably. Throughout his life, he remained active in his community and valued the friendships he built along the way. He was a member of the Fort Recovery VFW, Fort Recovery American Legion, Mercer County Elks, and the Celina Moose. Jim enjoyed the fellowship these organizations provided, and the many memories made there.
Music was truly Jim's pride and joy. At just 15 years old, he started his first band, discovering a passion that would stay with him for the rest of his life. He spent many years performing and entertaining others, most notably as a member of the Jimmy Boyd Band and the Yellow Pages.
Guests may visit with Jim's family on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home. A graveside service, with full military honors, will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
