Dorothy T. Guggenbiller, age 93, of Sharpsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at her home.
She was born on June 19, 1932, in Cassella, Ohio, to the late Bernard and Catherine (Hoying) Homan.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Norman A. Guggenbiller, whom she married on May 7, 1953 and who passed away on July 4, 2012; her son-in-law, John “JR” Rosenbeck; her grandson, Matt Guggenbiller; her siblings, Cletus (Hilda) Homan, Clem Homan, and Lester Homan; her in-laws, Delores (Leonard) Luttmer, Thelma Guggenbiller, Tom Albers, Marceil (Alvin) Lochtefeld, Lucille Schmitmeyer, Marie Schmitmeyer, Mary Ann Miller.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Rita (Fred) Barga of Rossburg, Carolyn (Steven) Hoelscher of Fort Loramie, Marilyn Rosenbeck of Fort Loramie, John (Madonna) Guggenbiller of Hamilton, Ohio, Donald (Julia) Guggenbiller of Fort Recovery, Michael (Jane) Guggenbiller of Wooster, Ohio, Gary (Jane) Guggenbiller of Pataskala, Ohio, and Anna (Paul) Niemeyer of South Lebanon, Ohio; her 20 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Anita Homan of Cassella, and Wanda Homan of Rossburg; her in-laws, Margaret Albers of Minster, Martin Schmitmeyer of St. Sebastian, Gerald (Helen) Miller of Decatur, Indiana, and Eugene (Alfreda) Guggenbiller of St. Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a lifelong farmer, working side by side with her beloved husband throughout the years. She treasured her role as a wife and mother, and her greatest accomplishment was raising a beautiful family. She took great pride in her family, who were the center of her life and her greatest joy. Dorothy especially cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved attending their activities and supporting them in all of their endeavors. She found happiness in tending to her garden and took great satisfaction in watching her flowers and plants flourish. A woman of strong faith, Dorothy was a devoted member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Sharpsburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Guests may visit with Dorothy’s family on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 12:15 PM, at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Cancer Association of Mercer County or EverHeart Hospice.
