Charlene R. Westgerdes, age 76, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday September 1, 2025, at the Celina Manor in Celina, Ohio.
She was born November 12, 1948, in Coldwater, Ohio, to the late Johnnie and Luella (Wendel) Jutte.
Charlene is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, James Westgerdes, whom she married on September 14, 1968; her children, Todd (Cheryl) Westgerdes of Coldwater, Brad (Theresa) Westgerdes of Coldwater, and Ryan Westgerdes of Fort Recovery; her 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way; her sister-in-law, Judith (Mike) Whetstone of Portland; her brother-in-law, Pete Resetar, Ellicott City, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her stepmother, Joann (Hellwarth) Jutte; her brother, Dr. Donald Jutte; and her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean (Theodore) Schneble and Janet Resetar.
A graduate of Fort Recovery High School, Class of 1967, Charlene dedicated over 30 years to her profession as a beautician, bringing joy and beauty to countless clients in the area. Following her retirement, she discovered her passion for interior design, lending her creativity and eye for beauty to home decorating projects for the next decade. Her work not only transformed spaces but also touched the lives of those she encountered.
Charlene was a devout member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, where she nurtured her faith and embraced her community. She found immense joy in the simplicity of life, spending countless hours outdoors tending to her flowerbeds and mowing grass. Above all, Charlene treasured time with her family, and relishing every moment spent with them, especially her grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery. A private family burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Guests may visit with the family on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
