Barbara L Bergman, age 70, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.
Barb was born on March 13, 1955, to the late Thomas L. and Alma (Dues) Osterfeld.
On July 27, 1996, Barb married the love of her life, Ted Bergman. Their marriage was one of devotion, companionship, and unwavering love. Barb took great pride in caring for Ted and was happiest when she was ensuring his comfort and happiness. Her love for him was evident in everything she did.
Barb was a 1973 graduate of Coldwater High School. Throughout her life, she found joy in the simple pleasures-those that brought beauty, comfort, and warmth to those around her. She loved gardening and growing her own produce, and many days could be found tending her flower beds, where her patience and care were reflected in every bloom. She had a deep affection for animals, and her home was always one of kindness and happiness.
Barb was also known for her love of baking and canning, talents she happily shared with family and friends. Her homemade pies were especially cherished and became a symbol of her generosity and loving heart. She also enjoyed taking photographs, capturing moments that allowed her to preserve memories of the people and things she loved most. Above all, Barb was admired for her authentic spirit, quiet strength, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met.
Barb is survived by her beloved husband, Ted Bergman, of Fort Recovery. She also leaves behind her sisters, Mary (Joe) Braun of Coldwater, Ohio, and Rita (Patrick) Hogan of Celina, Ohio; her brother; Robert (Susan) Osterfeld of Celina, Ohio; her sisters-in-law, Linda (Mike) Schwieterman of Arcanum, Ohio, Peg (Bill) Werling, of Coldwater, Ohio, Carol Bergman of St. Henry, Ohio, Charmaine (Donald) Klosterman, of Coldwater, Ohio, and Diane (Dale) Roessner of Coldwater, Ohio; and her mother-in-law, Peg Bergman of Fort Recovery, Ohio. Barb will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were blessed to know her.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Dixon, and her mother and father in-law Melvin and Emerita (Frantz) Bergman.
In keeping with her generous spirit and desire to help others, Barb chose to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Through this final act of kindness, she continues to bring hope and healing to others, leaving a legacy of compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
