Gayle D. Johnson, 77, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died May 6, 2013 at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1935 in Redkey, IN, to the late William Johnson and the late Maude (Henry). On November 6, 1955, he married Helen (Eichenauer) Johnson, who survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons - Doug Johnson of Fort Recovery, OH, Leslie Johnson of Fort Recovery, OH; 2 daughters - Cindy Bradley of Lowell, IN and Becky (Ray) Link of Maria Stein, OH; 3 brothers - Glen "Jay" Johnson of Redkey, IN, Damon (Herta) Johnson of Redkey, IN, and Kenny (Mary Jane) Johnson of Albany, IN; 2 sisters - Mary Helen Reynolds of Dunkirk, IN, and Marjorie Forrest of Greenfield, IN; a grandchild - Jamie Bradley; brothers and sisters in-law - Georgia Johnson of Bluffton, IN, Daris Johnson of Knoxville, TN, Lana Johnson of Punta Gorda, FL, Carroll (Alice) Eichenauer of Fort Recovery, OH, Vernon Eichenauer of Fort Recovery, OH, and Don Brautigam of Wapakoneta, OH.
Deceased are three brothers, Bill Johnson, Harry Johnson and Keith Johnson, and brothers and sisters in-law, Ervin Reynolds, Karl Forrest, Norma Jean (Bob) Cron, Lola Brautgam, Jean Eichenauer and Ruth Eichenauer.
He worked as a real estate broker and appraiser, was a U.S. veteran of the Marine Corp and served in the Korean War. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #539, Fort Recovery, in which he had served as Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Fort Recovery, and formerly served as a EMT First Responder in the Fort Recovery Area. He was a recipient of the Fort Recovery Citizen of the Year Award in 1981 and also received the Celina Area Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian Award in 1981 and attended Ft. Recovery United Methodist Church, Ft. Recovery, Ohio.
Services are 10:30 am Friday, May 10, 2013 at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, the Rev. Alan Brown officiating. Burial is at Spring Hill Cemetery, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Thursday and 9:30 am-10:30 am Friday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday and military graveside honors will be conducted by Fort Recovery American Legion on Friday. Contributions can be made to the Masonic Lodge, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
